The main themes debated at the regional workshop are: Methodological aspects of complex ecotoxicological investigations of transboundary aquatic ecosystems in Danube-Black Sea Basin; Classes of toxic substances, with emphasis on the radioactive isotopes and level of nuclear radiation doses in Lower Danube region and Black Sea Basin; Emerging persistent pollutants in aquatic ecosystems – pharmaceutical compounds; Evaluation of aquatic ecosystems based on microbiological parameters; Environmental challenges in Nestos river and its delta, Northern Greece; The study of toxic organic substances in aquatic and agricultural systems in the Republic of Moldova: persistent pesticides, PCBs, PAHs; Seasonal dynamics of nutrient concentrations in surface waters from the Danube Delta Biosphere Reserve.
